Method:
Cut out two squares of fabric and two squares of batting. Use pinking shears for the main fabric to add interest to the edges.

Cut out your motif from your contrasting fabric and from the interfacing, ensuring that the ‘tacky’ side of the interfacing is cut the right way to iron on to your motif.

Iron the interfacing onto your motif, then peel off the backing paper.

Iron the motif onto one of your fabric squares.

Layer your batting pieces inside the square fabric pieces, to form a sandwich.

Pin the edges, leaving a small seam allowance.

Sew along the edges using the sewing machine.

Press your finished coaster with an iron.

We have included a few motifs for you to choose from, but you could get creative with your own, too!
